    FAQs

I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own. Aren’t people who go to therapy weak?

Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. In our work together, I’ll help you explore and identify your strengths and how to implement them to reduce the influence of the problems you are facing.

    How can psychotherapy help me?

We have found that many of our clients have fallen within a spectrum of these two goals: Wanting a space to process difficult experiences or seeking tools to cope, manage and problem solve after difficult experiences or overwhelming emotions.

Psychotherapy can assist in evaluating what is most important for you. It provides the tools to identify patterns and move towards growth. Coping skills, insight, and improved communication are all positive effects that can be gained from therapy.

Why shouldn’t I just take medication?

Medication can be effective but has been shown to be more effective when paired with psychotherapeutic treatment. . Our work together is designed to explore and unpack the problems you are experiencing and expand on your strengths that can help you accomplish your personal goals.

How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?

Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual. I tailor my therapeutic approach to your specific needs. Most of our sessions fall within the 45-60 minute range and it is typical to see your therapist 1 x per week. In the event you need more sessions or a higher level of care your therapist will discuss this process with you, to make an informed decision collaboratively.

    How long will it take?

Unfortunately, this is not possible to say in a general FAQs page. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time counseling can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek counseling in the first place.

    What is the cancellation policy?

There is a 24-hour cancellation policy

If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment, and you have not notified me at least 24 hours in advance you will be required to pay the full cost of the session.

Initials session can only be rescheduled twice.

What is the process to begin therapy with LIFT?

You can either contact us via phone or submit a request through our site. Our first interaction will be a 15 minute free consultation.
